Carved vegetable characters we love...


Every year the London borough of Lambeth holds a Country Show. One of the highlights is The Flower Zone which features flower and  vegetable displays, home baking, jam, scarecrow making and recycled garden planting competitions. But the real star is the 'vegetable character competition' which this year had some incredibly inventive entries on the theme of Harvest Festival.

The winner was "Harvest Cocker" - perhaps better known as Pulp's Jarvis Cocker: 


Second prize went to this wonderful carrot and parsnip homage to Antony Gormley's Angel of the North and Terracotta Army sculptures:

We were also rather taken by these two owls. At least we think they're owls:

    The Vegetable is cooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll so i wondered if there was any new type of vegetable character i needed for my project ……………………..please try toooooooooooooo helppppppp me
