Product Description

In 1945, as WWII came to a close, Otto Nasser opened his restaurant The Pink Pig in what was then Van Nuys – now, Sherman Oaks, California. The restaurant was modest in décor but had great food – Nasser had started out as a butcher and people came from far and wide for his steaks and pork chops.

The fact that celebrities such as actress Dorothy Lamour and comedian Bob Hope ate there, according to the Museum of San Fernando Valley, soon made The Pink Pig a dining destination in Los Angeles.

The restaurateur added his name to Otto Nasser’s Pink Pig when he remodeled the restaurant in the late 50s.

According to Otto’s granddaughter Lisa Nasser, there was always a fun atmosphere in the restaurant and Otto’s wife Bertha – who preferred to be known by her nickname Bertie – was a welcoming presence.

Located at 4958 Van Nuys Boulevard, a short distance north of Riverside Drive, ‘The Pig’ remained open until 1982.

This menu is dated in the 1960s.
