Product Description

This charming rhyme and illustration is dated in the early 1900s and was used to promote Hires Root Beer. It features three thirsty crows sitting on a branch and eyeing a little boy below, who has fallen asleep and who has a glass of the popular beverage.
Hires Root Beer was created by pharmacist Charles Elmer Hires, from Philadelphia. Introduced in 1876, it was first marketed as a health drink, with claims that it could purify the blood and put the roses back in pale cheeks.
