Product Description

Florentine Room: A glamorous female minstrel serenades the moon in this whimsical 1930s menu cover from the Addison Hotel, Detroit. The menu would have been very recently post-Prohibition since it offers beers as well as many ginger ales, waters and sparkling grape juices. The hotel was completed in 1905 under the direction of architect Albert Kahn, a German immigrant who pioneered a new type of construction that used reinforced concrete in buildings instead of wood.  A beautiful building, it remains a Detroit landmark and has been converted into apartments.
