This hotel was originally located on 34th Street and 5th Avenue, where the Empire State Building stands today. The Waldorf Hotel was built in 1893, by William Waldorf Astor, and was joined by the Astoria Hotel, built in 1897, by his cousin John Jacob Astor IV. Today the Waldorf-Astoria sits proudly on Park Avenue in New York City where it opened in 1931 as the world's tallest and largest hotel.
